THE FIRST GENERATION
Leon Gauthier
Union Plumber, Fitchburg Plumbing Local
The Gauthier family’s plumbing tradition can be traced to Leon Gauthier, a union plumber with the Fitchburg plumbing local. Leon became one of the local’s earliest retirees and introduced a trade that would continue through generations of his family.
THE SECOND GENERATION
Paul Gauthier
Union Leader and Worcester Project Foreman
Leon’s son, Paul Gauthier, continued in the trade and became a respected leader in Worcester Plumbers Local #4, serving as both president and vice president. As a foreman, Paul helped oversee plumbing work at major Worcester landmarks, including City Hospital, Holy Cross College, UMass Hospital on Lake Avenue, the Post Office, and Hanover Insurance on Lincoln Street.
1970
Reggie Gauthier
Gauthier Plumbing & Heating Begins
After working in Plumbers Local #4 alongside his father, Reggie Gauthier established his own plumbing business in 1970. For more than 40 years, he provided personal home service throughout Central Massachusetts, completing much of the work himself and building the reputation the family carries forward today. Paul later joined Reggie on service work before fully retiring.
1990
Greg Gauthier
The Next Chapter Begins
Greg Gauthier followed his father and grandfather into Worcester Plumbers Local #4, where he worked for approximately five years. In May 1990, Greg began his own business. As Reggie gradually scaled back his company, father and son worked together, connecting decades of family experience with the next generation of local service.
THE FIFTH GENERATION
Vincent and Daniel Gauthier
The Family Tradition Continues
Greg and his wife raised two sons, Vincent and Daniel, who now work alongside the family. Their involvement continues a plumbing tradition reaching back through five generations while bringing new energy and opportunity to the company’s future.

A New Name for a Modern Full-Service Company
In 2026, Gauthier Plumbing & Heating moves forward as Gauthier Mechanical. The new identity represents the company’s expanded range of plumbing, heating, cooling, drain and sewer, HVAC, electrical, and commercial services while preserving the family ownership, workmanship, and personal service customers have trusted since 1970.
